Swiss Indie Board Games Arrive at Fantasy Basel 2026
Something new is happening inside FaBa!
For the first time, there will be a dedicated Swiss Indie Board Games area. Not just a few random booths. Not scattered tables. A real space. Nine by nine meters. Built around play.
Shadow Games is taking the lead on organizing it together with Imperial Twin, Scydes, and the community crew from Zurich Fun Gamers.
This isn’t a corporate pavilion. It’s not polished PR. It’s indie creators standing next to each other and saying: let’s make this visible.
The space will be alive the whole weekend. Imperial Twin, Cydes, and Shadow Games will each have their regular stands – full setups, our current games ready to play, tables running continuously. If you’ve wanted to try our titles properly, this is your chance. Sit down. Learn in minutes. Start competing.
But that’s only half of it.
The real heartbeat of this area will be the playtests. Other Swiss indie designers are bringing prototypes. Early versions. Fresh mechanics. Games that are still evolving. Visitors won’t just look at them — they’ll play them. You’ll test ideas before they hit production. You’ll see concepts in their raw form. That’s rare at a convention of this size.
At the same time, Zurich Fun Gamers will anchor the space with a strong selection of classic board games and open tables. They’re not just putting boxes on display. They’ll sit down and play with people. That matters. It keeps the energy moving. It makes the area welcoming, not intimidating.
The goal isn’t to overwhelm anyone with complex systems or hour-long rule explanations. That’s not what we build. Shadow Games has always stood for easy-to-understand and highly competitive games — and that mindset shapes the entire area. Quick to learn. Fun to play. Serious competitive edge without the headache.
This Swiss Indie Board Games area is about showing that Switzerland doesn’t just consume games – it creates them. Different styles. Different mechanics. Different voices. All in one place.
